Ziegler Winery History

Our property was purchased in 2015 with the dream of owning our own large vineyard and winery. Established along the east shore of Lake Winnebago, we are located within the Wisconsin Ledge AVA, a region where the area’s temperate climate rivals that of some of the best wine-growing regions on earth.

The vineyard has grown to over 7000 vines on approximately 12 acres. We currently grow eleven All New World Northern hardy hybrids – the only grape varieties that can withstand the frigid Wisconsin winters. All of our vines were hand planted with the help of our wonderful family and friends. We harvest by hand and every wine is crafted and bottled on our property.

In Fall 2018 we started our first vintage. Over 6000 gallons (31,000 bottles) of wines were produced. All the wines are hand crafted and made in small batches so the attention to detail is second to none. From start to finish, 100% of the process is done on site.

To preserve Wisconsin’s rich history, reclaimed barn board and silo blocks salvaged from a nearby local farm were used as design elements inside the tasting room and shop. The tasting bar is made of red wood reclaimed from pickle barrels.

Our tasting room is one of the largest in the state, with two upper mezzanine levels – one side with upper fireplace, two larger lower levels for seating with a fireplace, an outdoor enclosed patio and a second patio with a stage area for bands in the spring and summer. We carry craft beer offerings from Switchgear Brewing Company and Plymouth Brewing Company and have a food menu with a variety of offerings.
